Ebola Fundraiser: Supporting Sierra Leone During the Ebola Crisis
In response to the devastating Ebola outbreak in West Africa, particularly in Sierra Leone, the Salt of Hope Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ebola Action Group Australia (SLEAGA), launched a critical fundraising campaign. This initiative provided essential medical supplies and food to support the efforts of the Sierra Leonean government and its people in combating the deadly Ebola virus.

Key Achievements
Shipment of Medical Supplies: Through generous donations, we successfully shipped two 40-foot containers filled with medical supplies and non-perishable food items, each valued at over $220,000.
Fundraising for Shipping Costs: Each container shipment required $7,500. While we fully covered the cost for one container, we initiated fundraising efforts to cover the remaining expenses and future shipments.
Impact of the Ebola Outbreak
The Ebola outbreak, which began in Guinea in early 2014, rapidly spread to neighboring countries, including Sierra Leone. The situation overwhelmed the nation’s healthcare infrastructure, leading to shortages of medical staff and protective equipment. As of September 26, 2014, Sierra Leone had reported 1,920 confirmed cases and 529 confirmed deaths, with numbers rising daily. The epidemic also resulted in numerous orphans and severely impacted the country’s economy.
Our Commitment
The Salt of Hope Foundation remains dedicated to supporting Sierra Leone during health crises. We continue to collaborate with local and international partners to provide essential resources, raise awareness, and contribute to the nation’s recovery and resilience.
